LignoBond DD: Lignosulphonate Feed Binder
The
Lignin used in the Borregaard feed binder “LignoBond DD” is a complex molecule
derived from wood during the cellulose pulping process. The product in its dry
form has the amazing ability to absorb its own weight in moisture, thus making
it possible to add more steam and use a higher pressure and temperature when
manufacturing feed pellets. The effect of this is to reduce die blockages and
indirectly increase production output and pellet quality.
The constantly fluctuating price of feed ingredients makes reformulating diets to “least cost” an essential approach to maintaining profitability. This puts pelleting production and pellet quality under great stress as the quality and quantity of raw materials change, particularly if raw materials that are difficult to pellet constitute a substantial part of the formulation. The application of 10 kg/ton of “LignoBond DD” will eradicate poor quality and increase pelleting efficiency to these least cost formulations.

Pelleting Consumable Contracts from C.F.E.
Pelleting is the bottle neck in the production function for feed compounders. The requirement to produce a high quality product cost effectively influences all decisions in feed mill management. C.F.E believe that the best vehicle to deliver on this objective of value for money is its Pelleting Consumable Contracts. A Pelleting Consumable Contract is an agreement to manage the pelleting spares and press maintenance requirements. It is a collaboration with customers and suppliers. The cost is calculated on the basis of previous performance and best practice and is expressed in terms of tonnage produced. It is a focus on improving operations performance and reducing costs for suppliers and customers. A contact includes consumable parts for the pelleting press, process improvement planning, preventative maintenance and management of the press. This concept has demanded change on the business relationship between C.F.E. and its customers.

Clextral, leader in twin-screw extrusion technology, has been supplying complete production lines for animal feed production for several years. The Evolum® twin-screw extruders are a natural fir in those production lines. The Evolum® 145 (5 to 12 tons per hour), provides the flexibility and extrusion parameters control, and answers to the production needs.
Thanks to its modular design, speed, torque, and heat transfer capability, this extruder is particularly adapted to the new production needs.
